Felix Kaputu
Bard College at Simon’s RockFelix U. Kaputu is an international scholar whose academic journey began in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where he earned his first doctorate in Comparative Literature (2000). He later received a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Universiteit Gent and a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2017, followed by a doctorate in International Human Rights from Bircham International University (2023). Since the early 90s, his research has focused on comparative imagery, gender studies, cultural management, and identity construction. He’s taught at universities worldwide, including Bard College at Simon’s Rock, Fordham, and Purchase College, and research at Harvard, among others. Kaputu’s work integrates interdisciplinary studies, focusing on African diasporas, human rights, and community development. A Fulbright Scholar at the University of California, Santa Barbara, he has earned awards from the U.S., Japan, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
